The stilts from the Stelzenmanufaktur are high-quality artistic props that you will enjoy for many years if you follow the following instructions for use and care.
Notes about use
By installing foot bars of different lengths, the running height of the stilts can be varied. To do this, use the integrated Allen key to loosen the two colorfully highlighted screws on the inside of the stilt, change the foot bar and tighten the screws well again. If necessary, hold the screw on the other side with the second Allen key.
The stilts can also be adjusted to the length and shape of the calf: To do this, loosen the screw on the outside of the calf plate, adjust the plate so that the upper edge of the calf plate ends about 4 finger-widths below the crook of the knee and turn the calf plate so that it is flat rests on the calf. Now tighten the outer screw well again.
If you prefer the sheet resting against your shin, you can also turn it forward. Make sure that the straps are not caught between the wood and sheet metal.
The 3 foot straps ensure that the stilt is securely held on the foot. The rear strap determines the position of the foot (front - back). This significantly changes the balance and varies from person to person. Experience has shown that the ankle should be just behind the pillar of the stilt.
Over time, the stilt should become one with the body and thus form a “natural” extension of the legs. To do this, all straps must be tightened well.
Never use the stilts without suitable knee pads, because in the event of a fall, falling is everything: hands up, knees to the ground and put your butt on your heels!! This should definitely be trained.
ATTENTION: Use the stilts at your own risk!
Care and maintenance
Before each use, check that all screws around the footplate are firmly seated!
Keep the Velcro fasteners clean and always close them carefully, otherwise their function can no longer be guaranteed.
From time to time, remove the lower rubber foot, remove any dirt and clean the aluminum ring. Do not use water or cleaning agents for this. Check that the two small spax screws that secure the aluminum ring to the stilt are tight.
Make sure the stilts are stored in a dry place. If they do get wet, it must be ensured that they dry well.
You can simply wipe off any light dirt on the stilts with a damp cloth. You can sand away stubborn dirt or scratches on the wood with sandpaper (grit 120) and treat the areas with a cloth with a little linseed oil varnish. Wipe off excess oil after half an hour. This will keep your stilts looking pretty for a long time.
